Nothing Remains

One Simple Truth

By Dan R FowlerPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Nothing Remains

Above all things, believe in yourself,

No matter which hand of life you’ve been dealt.

It’s the little things in life that mean the most,

Those things that touch the heart of which we toast.

A kind word or deed or simply a smile,

Can make someone’s day or help them walk another mile.

Earth we are made of and to which we shall return,

It’s the passage of time between them to be concerned.

Battlefields filled with the emotion we’ve all been upon,

Fighting for one cause or another trying to belong.

Yet, these confrontations, this warring within,

Is different for all of us and makes our minds spin.

Walk with me along life’s river that ebbs and flows,

Recanting stories and memories of the essence of days ago.

It’s remembering the passion that keeps me alive,

The giving and the taking during valleys subsides.

So, stand with me and lift your voices anew,

Calling for those who’ve lost their way, their lives askew.

Come sit with me on this slope upon the banks of faith,

Knowing full well that nothing remains, this truth my soul scathed.
