A Song of Fools and Lovers

Also known as Death Song

By Sandra TenaPublished 3 years ago 1 min read
Photo by Mani Navasothy of Sandra Cole as Death at Glastonbury Assembly Rooms

She sang a song

of a world of starry skies,

of Summer rain

and flower-scented air…

She sang a song

of love and joy and loss,

of fleeting childhood

a marriage bed

a passing age…

She sang a song of kings and queens gone by

she sang of magic, learning, crafts

she sang of men found guilty sent to hang

…and women turning vile…

Death has a warm bed,

Death takes us all…

She sang of fools and lovers in the grass

She sang a song

of forces drawing us appart

of friends and teachers

and those who hide…

She sang a song

of snowflakes on her skin,

a love eternal

a change of stage

the end of life…

She sang a song of kings and queens gone by

she sang of magic, learning, crafts

she sang of men providing peace and warmth

…and women dancing in the light…

Death has a warm bed

Death takes us all

She sang of fools and lovers in the grass…

    This is a great piece!

  • Death doesn’t discriminate. But I choose a life of foolish love anyway
