A Shark Swims Sadly
Alone in a Blue Void

A shark swims alone through a vast blue void
Swept along the ocean currents away from his one true love
He tries to fight back, to turn to face her, to say goodbye one last time
But the strength of the shark is no match for the overwhelming power of the sea
He is carried further away, further, and further
He thrashes and gnashes and whips his tail, but he cannot turn and face her
He cannot say goodbye
His rage and sadness are so great that the ocean relents for just a moment
He manages to turn
Looks right into her soft brown eyes from across a great distance
Opens his massive jaws
But nothing comes out, for he has nothing to say, he does not know what to say, or how to say it
She sees his sadness, and she feels his love, and she looks at the shark and whispers. It's ok, it's alright. It will be ok
And the shark knows she speaks the truth
But he finds little solace and his pain and hurt do not lessen
And the current takes him again
and pulls him away
Further and further away, never to see her again
Eventually the current releases him and the shark swims alone
As he will swim from now until his end, where the ocean ends, in the deep blue void

I came for the photo — stayed for the poetry. Well done.
