A Ruby Red Dream

an unexpected connection

The deepest point of my imagination is the gateway to realms frequently explored. I visit hoping to remember the wonders beyond one's norm.

Where the Fae dance freely and Dragons glide across the skies so massive and bold. Tree spirits wander both earth and this land speaking to us through their foliage and whispers through the wind.

I know where I belong as my heart never fears frolicking among mother nature; she with all her splendor. Without hesitation, I swim with what some might call Loch Ness, the monster that lurks in the deep.

But there is one I am searching for; one I have met before. I viewed him initially as the red demon but perhaps more like a spirit, a guide, or entity from my past.

He stood guard with his huge and mighty stature, a frame so massive that it could be revered across many lands yet, I sense a lingering weakness within. He approached me with shame and sadness in his eyes. Kneeling while holding a staff, eyes forcefully focused on the floor too afraid to face me head-on.

I gently touched his face and raised it hoping to understand the loneliness and fear that emitted. He did not speak but lowered his gaze as wanting to disappear.

He was magnificent, a ruby beauty that drew me in like a spell cast upon my heart. The horn, like a unicorn and his beard so fierce. The sharpness of his teeth ever so gently peaked through his sad lips.

Was he only a dream or someone I once knew? My heart grew at that very moment, curious to know more but like any dream was cut short without reason or warning.

I spend countless moments in my waking missing him, wanting to visit where he rests; nostalgia always taking me for a loop.

"Are you ok?", the whisper of concern and longing softly escaping my breath.

If only I could see him once again to know why his downcast expression left me with an unsettled worry, an ache in my chest, and unwarranted tears.

He must be one of heavens reign here to protect, but why such deepened sorrow as if his heart had never been fully met?

Who are you my tortured ruby, why are you afraid to appear to me once again? I will not harm you as I seek only to look into your eyes; I want to see the color of them. I feel my heart beating rapidly knowing we are intensely in tune. My subconscious knows but details of you are fleeting.

Where are you my wonderful red dream? You feel so near yet you are hidden among the mountainous fears that block you from me. Invisible to my eye but a beacon to my heart.

I can not help you unless you reach willingly, reach for what you desire, reach to break free and find the love that is inside you, and at that moment I will see you, I will know the beauty of my beloved Ruby.
