A Poem of Plagues

A poem for the pandemic

By Joe PattersonPublished 4 years ago 2 min read

With a bare naked face, there's a place that I can't past. Access is only granted with a face mask.

Nothin' like a good sickness to eat your heart. Wanna stand around? stand six feet apart.

Oh the things I would do for a hug. Close contact now swept under the rug.

Even if there is no sickness in me, the slightest cough causes a frenzy, one that could end me.

Can't go many places and can't do much. New friends, but I can't feel a new touch.

The whole world is paranoid and we got it bad. Many got sick and made it to a body bag.

Now I'm praying for God to come and change it, rearrange it becuz my people can't take it. A long hard walk we're on, I can't fake it. Doin' what I gotta do becuz I'm gonna make it.

Public places are closed, so not much goin out, just internet videos of people showing out.

Many minds are in a state of defeat. With not much to do, but just sit around and eat.

Junk food got em' piling to a lesser size, because they never made the effort to go out and exercise.

For the couples, old and new lovers. This pandemic started to show their true colors.

It's like infidelity was at an all time high and started revealing all time lies.

When I would take a walk, I'd be alone every day I walked, but since the pandemic I see all my neighbors walk.

I guess the pandemic changed their plays, so they had to adjust and now they changed their ways.

Crime went down, but shopping went up. So much frustration is now pent up, the city lit up

The people don't dig it, the world ain't with it, and now they're relying on the government to fix it.

For 2 years the world was in a new gear. Now we face new challenges with new tears.

Now I can walk around the city with my mask off, taking the world by storm I'm bout to blast off.

Got some freedom back, time to take advantage. Never will I ever take another day for granted.

For the past couple years I spent a lot of days stressin', but through the thick and thin I learned a great lesson.

If you learned one too lets all stand in line to tell a story of these pandemic times.
