A place of dreams

Mama's lap

By NoreenPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Today, I returned to a place I once knew,

A place I’ve missed, wished for, longed to dwell in anew.

A haven of hope, where dreams took flight,

Where my eyes gleamed with mischief and delight.

I laid there once, sketching funny scenes,

Erasing, rewriting, chasing endless dreams.

First, I wanted to play sports, wield a racket,

Tennis became my world; I wore that jacket.

But time, a friend, let my dreams evolve,

I became a writer, letting my stories revolve.

Soon boredom whispered, and I shifted again,

Joining a drama club to embrace the stage's reign.

Academics called; I answered its plea,

In that place, miracles were as vast as the sea.

Every dream, no matter how fleeting or small,

In that sacred space, I could have it all.

Today, I dreamed of that place once more,

Singing songs I knew, their lyrics I’d store.

I sat on my mama’s lap, safe and true,

A place where every wish and prayer came through.

Oh, how I wish I could go back again,

To that sanctuary of joy, untouched by pain.

But now, I’ll cherish it where it gleams,

Forever etched in my heart and dreams.
