Too bright for this world

It will never be okay

Too bright for this world

Life happens, things happen.

Everything will be alright,

Time heals all wounds, they say.

I’m sorry, my condolences

Words I've heard throughout my life,

Words I’ve grown accustomed to.

Some said with conviction,

I almost believed them.

Others just said them because it’s polite.

Someone's got to say something,

To break the ice, they say.

But which ice are they talking about?

The ice that’s frozen my heart,

Left me numb and lost in a winter of grief.

Do those words really break the ice?

Do they melt away the cold silence,

Or do they only skim the surface,

While the frozen depths remain untouched?

Does time truly heal the wounds,

Or just weave a veil of forgetting

Over scars that never fade?I've learned that time heals nothing.

You just learn to live with it.

You accept it.

But some things are too heavy to carry,

Like knowing I'll never see you again.

It’s hard to accept that you are gone,

Like a star that fell from the sky

And left the night empty.

Maybe if I knew where you were going,

I would follow,

Maybe I'd be better off

Knowing the place we don’t know now.

Who are you with?

Are you an angel now,

Or are you just a distant star?

Or maybe you’re simply gone,

Six feet under, nowhere else.

But that pill is too hard to swallow,

So I’ll accept that you’re an angel,

Because you lived like one

This world couldn’t handle you,

And you shined too bright for the devil.

I’d also like to believe that I will see you again,

That maybe I'd be worthy to be in your presence.

I'd be worthy to talk to you,

Though I don't live the way you lived

My sins are greater, I’m no angel.

But all I pray for is that one day,

On the other side,

I'd be worthy to be your sister,

Or even catch a glimpse of you,

Just to see if you are alright…
