A Place Like Home

I’ve a place to share
If you follow me beneath
The red hydrangeas.
•
This way, over stone;
My landlords are out, and they
Don’t know this haven.
•
It’s dark here, but cool.
Press in closer if you like;
Watch the dewdrops fall.
•
I come here alone,
After lectures and coffee,
To be held in green.
•
A stone bench, a gnome
With a moss-eaten dunce cap
And kind granite eyes.
•
When the sun beats through
The leaves, it feels like warm breath,
The breath of childhood,
The breath of the dog
You loved when you were seven.
Does it feel like home?
Do I feel like home?

Oh STUNNING! You somehow captured all that childhood awe and exploration in nature so perfectly! Well Done!
This was a beautiful read… I feel like I’m there 🥹❤️✨
A perfect haven. I felt like I was sitting there—such a gorgeous invitation.
This is so lovely, yes, yes, you have really conjured a feeling of homeness.
I wanted to say, "Simply beautiful," but Mackenzie said it better. There's something about her "Ugh," that reaches down deep inside me & makes me long for such a place as you describe, for a place that feels like home, to be that place for someone else that feels like home.
Ugh, just beautiful. I want to step into that world.
Gorgeously penned, my friend!
