A Peter Frampton Summer Day

By Donna Magnani-Convertino

’Twas a day so far away

Though I vividly remember when-

The phonograph spun repeatedly

While Peter Frampton played again.

It was a time I’ll never forget,

that summer brought some peace-

14 was rough, but when he played

All noises in my head would cease.

Summer 1976, this teen had her share of plight

But Frampton blared at decibels

Seduced me in pure delight.

His words gave me time to wonder

For what my life’s to come.

I’d take a break, scale up the roof-

And steal Miss Garlands plum.

The birds would sing, I’d the eat fruit

Juice dripping from my mouth-

The phonograph kept circling,

’Til the needle got worn out.

I often wondered what I’d do,

If I couldn’t play my sounds-

The lyrics, and the band together

Brought such soulful rounds.

Those words for me, Everyday,

“Baby I love your way”,

I felt so high to have that time,

A Peter Frampton summer day!
