A Penny for your Thoughts?

I am but a dollar

of countless to be paid;

so they save and raise my value

only for the rainy days.

If I share with you some of my thoughts,

in turn, will you give me change?

Or am I simply a hundred pennies

for you to spend on a parade?

Just how much will it take

to finally turn the page?

To buy more precious time

and utilize the lights and stage?

Let me be your prophet,

or your profit,

it’s all the same.

Dormant be the thoughts that

could move mountains

or sink ships;

wasting the breath of my potential

all for political gain.
