A Pallet of the Brightest Colors
The Progression of a Troubled Life Through Color

When I was young, I painted my world with
a pallet of the richest colors.
A drop of Amber for every giggle.
African Violet from each soft touch.
Crimson smiles with Cerulean corners.
As I grew older the pallet began to fade.
A Burnt Umber bruise on a skinned knee.
The Smoky Grey of a tear-stained cheek.
Sage shadows of disbelief.
Somewhere in the middle I lost control of the medium.
Indigo dreams collided with Putrid Green thoughts.
Fuchsia hopes turned to Charcoal Ashes.
Mulberry memories now Bone White slivers.
At some point the pallet turned horribly dark.
Midnight Blue swallowed up the light.
Gunmetal Silver cut through Alabaster skin.
Onyx screams covered trails of Bordeaux.
Beaten and broken I grasped for color.
Lilac looks led to Periwinkle words.
Tuscan tones created Orchid notes.
Moonstone moments gave Opal clarity.
As I grew stronger the colors deepened.
Saffron songs and Deep purple dancing.
Ruby Red kisses and Chartreuse connections.
Cobalt confidence and Royal Blue reflections.
When I was young, I painted my
world with the brightest colors.
I use those colors again today,
and will use them forever.
