a pact

I'll show you light

the clouds are heavy today

I know your shoulders are too

I wish I could take the weight

and release it from you

your laugh is my favourite sound

it echoes in my ears

I wish I could take it and save it

for a rainy day

for whenever I want to hear it

I vow to make you smile

until the end of time and space

a pact

a contract

I'll sign in blood

and keep it somewhere safe

overcast days

reminders of past wounds

but I want you to know

your heart doesn't have to be bruised

I'll paint it different colours

permanent unconditional hues

I love absolutely everything about you

there's fear in stepping out of what you're used to

I know

but there's freedom on the other side

jump into my arms

I'll cradle your heart

I'll undress your insides

all the pain you've known before

the darkness from past lives

the scars on your soul

the whispers that you aren't whole

I'll show you light
