A Nappy Bag Love Story
What I Carry Each Day (Besides Love)

A dummy you only used
a couple of times,
before you decided
you didn’t need it anymore.
A nipple shield from
when you were having
breastfeeding issues.
A bib worn when
you were teething.
A change of clothes —
still size 3–6 months.
I learnt to pack these after
your nappy explosion
at the library.
Some spare swim nappies,
I always forget to remove
on non-swimming days.
A pair of shoes we had to buy
when you started walking.
A snack box with your
favourite rice biscuits,
for when I need a
moment with my coffee
at the café.
And right in the bottom,
a pile of sand from all
our trips to the park.
Our bag tells a story
of your life so far.
Of all our mother and
son outings.
I just can’t bear to throw
any of it away.

And they grow up soooo fast, too! I remember always.
So sweet! ☺️
Lovely, Sandy. That bag represents all the milestones the little one has achieved.
Lovely poem, Sandy! I know just how you feel.
This is precious Sandy! I love everything about this story!!! ❤️
A tell-tale bag, how lovely... make the most of them, they go up so fast.
So sweet! The bag is cute too. These nappy bags always reminded me of Madam Poppins bag of goodies
I remember my mom's nappy bag from when my little sister was a toddler. It was full with random stuff like this but my mom couldn't throw them away even when she didn't need them anymore. Now I understand why.
So sweet Sandy. Very relatable. I am glad I read.
There are certain objects I feel same way about-holds a special memory that you don't want to throw away.
Heheh. The Image absolutely kills it. With lovely lines to go with it Sandy. And yes I remember your love for coffee.."for when I need a moment with my coffee,at the café" . Hehe. This line says it all. @Sandy Gillman
So cute! 🥰
Seriously, that's like the cutest bag I've seen in a while. Tulips, are they? Oh my. I. What are these. Are these tears. Oh fluff. I can't get enough! You listed all the things in that bag, as if they meant the world to you because it belongs to him — and it does, it really does mean the world to you. I can tell. Each line was written with the intention. Nipple shield because he was having breastfeeding issues. Nappy explosion gave a bit of a giggle. Oh please do keep them all. Maybe my tears should be somewhere in the bag. Because this poem was cute enough to cause my own explosion of tears. I hope that convinced you to hold them ever more, dear. This poem was lovely mama, thoughtful and sweet and when he can read. I am sure he will give you lots of hugs and appreciation. In addition to all the love he's already showing you in his own little cute ways. ❤️
It holds too many wonderful memories to be thrown away. Loved your poem!
