I love you and so, I have to forget you

for, not forgetting means holding you someplace

in my paper mind that your amber gaze

lights and makes translucent

dazzling me from behind a smokescreen

so we’re lost again, in that amber haze

I love You, hidden entity

stealing in and out of shadows,

yearning for light, never wanting to be free

only yearning, for one last tango, one more

sigh of mine, against your lips

before we must die again,

inevitable, for shadow fish.

I love You, and so I must forget you

in paper and body I must forget,

your amber eyes, your hidden warmth.
