A Mother's Eyes

Happy Mother's Day

By Sharon Bowman GriffinPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

A mother’s eyes…warm and wise,

welcomed you when you entered in.

Were your first glimpse of pure love,

from up above, when you looked up into them.

They monitored your every move,

with awe and admiration.

Counted as you wiggled fingers and toes,

full of tender adoration.

They measured each milestone as you grew,

Marking off your inches and feet.

They knew when you cut each baby tooth,

And when teething was complete.

They cringed each time you took a fall,

wobbly legs crashing to the floor.

They beamed with pride when you stood tall,

then began to roam and explore.

They baby proofed your environment,

searching every single day

to see that nothing would harm you,

making sure you were always safe.

A mother’s eyes, it’s no surprise

filled with tears the older you’d get

knowing you would soon be on your own,

But their baby, they’d never forget.

A mother’s eyes…warm and wise,

Slightly dimmed with the passing of time.

But if you’d simply say, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY,

Once again, with pure love they would shine.
