A Mother’s Embrace

how a mother treats her child

As soon as she wraps her arms around you,

Her love burns warm, a beacon of light.

Whispers low of soft lullabies,

A bond so deep, it begins to grow.

Weekends of bleary-eyed delirium and nights of restless slumber,

She comforts your lonesomeness in a thousand ways.

A soft touch, a guiding hand,

A love so wide as grains of sand.

At times of dwindling bravery, she raises you.

Her strength the shining light unfurled.

The feeling, you know, that this tender, strong, true voice you are hearing

Forever saying, “I love you.”

Someday you will fly, dreams anew chase,

But her embrace will take action.

What no time nor space can put asunder.

A mother’s love — a beating heart.
