A Moment of Eternity
To describe meeting you
Is to find words for the impossible
For how do you describe
The sound of a sunrise
Or the scent of water
How can I paint the experience
Of our souls entwining?

There was no past, present, future
Only your hypnotic hazel eyes
A glimpse of forever
When your gaze met with mine
And I wished away the world
Knowing I required nothing more
Than this feeling of you

Was it merely seconds
Or eternity inside of that moment
Did the world stop turning then
I can't possibly know
For how do you measure
What is no longer in existence
The illusionary

You took more than my breath
You lifted the pain buried deep in me
A lifetime of lonely
And diminishing hope
You were the secret chord
I was forever yearning to hear
The melody of us

I knew not of your charm
Nor of how sweetly you caressed words
I knew not of your laugh
Or admirable strength
And yet I fell so hard
Momentum splitting my life in two
Before you and after

How can I put to words
The very moment two universes
Wrote chorus, became song?
Momentary magic
Casting a lifelong spell
Our symphony is etched in my heart
And held forevermore

Momentum splitting my life in two Before you and after These lines resonated so deeply with me. I did have a guy in my life who made me feel this way. He is no more in my life and it's been 10 years I'm in the 'after you' phase. Have you read any of Colleen Hoover's books? I've not but I came across this passage from one of her books and it resonated so deeply with me. Here's the passage: 'There was before you and during you. For some reason, I never thought there would be an after you. But there was and I was in it. I'll be in it forever.' You said this is one of your first attempts at poetry. You did such a brilliant work here. This poem feels so close to my heart ❤️
Your poem is perfectly sweet - sometimes you need a bit of ‘cheese!’ 😁☺️ ..yet the last couple of poems I’ve read of yours a few weeks back were very impactful and creative.
