A Modern Olivia Newton John

a poem

By Rysha SchulerPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

From the corner of my eye I saw him look my way

He talked about his night while my record player played

A track so old spun that I didn’t think he knew

Then he picked me up and danced with me all around the room

Now I got some top shelf tequila handy

And my friends are all here to ease the pain

Then my city’s favourite DJ plays that love song

And here I am just missing you again.

So please DJ please

Don’t play that song like I was 17 again

We danced to it in my apartment before he left me broken hearted

So please DJ please

I don’t ever wanna hear that song again

I’ve been crying every day and tonight I’m

Trying hard as I can

So please DJ please

So please DJ please

heartbreak
