A Mirror for Two

Who's the fairest of them all?

"I'm just a mirror, you know?"

He responded when I asked why he was sulking.

It's a dialogue I always use on him.

I show you the same attitude you show me.

The boy is growing brains.

It's got me thinking...

If we are each others' mirrors,

Then why aren't we working on ourselves?

So if I get better...

You would, too?

So I have to meal myself,

And you, heal you,

So we heal our relationship?

Is this how it's going to work?

But...

Of course, there's a but.

I'm going for therapy

Working harder,

Learning the things you like.

What are you doing?

I probably shouldn't be...

Comparing our personal growths.

But I'm sorry..

I need to SEE things to believe it.

I need to see what you're doing

To rebuild my trust,

To make sure the connection in our marriage,

LASTS.

I need to see you doing the same thing as me,

Or better.

Because,

We're each others' mirrors,

Right?

Did I get this wrong?

A heartbreaking story when you’re moving forward and you want the other person to move along with; it’s that reality you’re separating. Well written i like it.

Ah ha! Well, sometimes one person improves, the other doesn't and they go separate ways. Each person has to decide. Great job on this poem, I loved it!

Oh, this hits deep! Reflecting on love, trust, and effort—it’s raw and so relatable. If we’re mirrors, then mutual growth should shine equally, right? Let’s hope the other side starts reflecting the same energy!💖✨

Very good, Manisha. And every relationship, we enter, whether a romantic relationship, a relationship, a platonic relationship, they are each other‘s mirror. We see a bits of ourselves in the other person. I really enjoyed reading this. It made me think.

Best we work together to meet in the middle. I don’t have enough stamina to breach the entire gap by myself. 😉 Fantastic treatise about couples being a reflection of each other. Great job.

Well-wrought! It calls to mind one of my primary philosophical questions: When mirror regards mirror, which is the reflection?

  • We should never believe empty words. Words accompanied by actions are what we should believe. Loved your poem!

Wow! You've captured the real person and his thoughts inside the mirror. The way you've expressed that by improving ourselves we're doing good to both is inspiring and magical ✨🤝💖
