A Mile In His Shoes

These Shoes Were Made For Thinking

I walked in someone's shoes today,

not quite sure whose, but if I may

I'd say they were of unsound mind,

the truth of this you soon shall find...

Here and there they took me and

don't know why, but I understand

that this is where he meant to go,

not where I ever wanted though...

We went to places I could not

begin to fathom, still I thought

these shoes fit awfully well you see

and soon the answers came to me...

But just as I began to love

the comfort, I had not known of

this graveyard where they brought me to,

and here I knew not what to do...

A sorrow soon enveloped me

and very soon I came to see

a recent loved one lost lies here

and all the pain became so clear...

Then suddenly, before the dawn

a cliff I found myself upon

and just as I about went o'er,

I found I knew this man before...

The hurtful things that I'd gone thru,

depression I had come into,

I knew those shoes had fit too well,

those shoes were mine and I'm in Hell..
