A Lovely Sinkhole, You Are.

I hope, at least.

By Matthew EastmanPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

In every framed landscape, I'd see myself isolated.

Yet, you've trespassed the anxious terrain as of late.

Orpheus to my senses, distress diminished when your lips permit it;

Asphyxiate my trepidation without thought - involvement adrift.

Your viridian kiss, like a stained copper sentiment.

Predisposed to positions of commitment, a daydream unfinished.

Envisaged intentions; my beholder unearthed, bewildered -

-

Rainy days aren't the same.

Disunion in the significance a color can contain.

Because the other day, mankind was painted jade,

When a monarch left unnamed spilled her verdant shades.

Such grace framed a lake over my captivated face; malachite cascade.

No alibi can shame the affiliation made,

Between human conscience and the hue of sage.

It is paramount in nature, a magnate of behavior.

It is all the convolution under the struggle of no savior.

It decorates hearts, discarded yet aligned.

It deluges every part from vistas to lone minds.

The color green is a parody of a purer humanity,

For red is ecstasy and blue is misery,

But what emotion pinpoints all our forestry?

Does it depict the serene or illustrate disease?

I reflected the uncertainty, laid down by a weighted breeze -

When an emerald royalty reached out her hand to me.

She passed down a souvenir that ended all my questioning.

It was shapeless and baffling, yet retained familiar complexity,

And that little abstract gift held the name of Empathy.
