A Love/Hate Sonnet

Summer Dichotomies

By Rob AngeliPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

You hate me/you have me/you love me and shove me;

with goldest hair all in battle blondly spilling

down your neck and reddened freckled cheeks and filling

these sarcastic spaces with your frightful spastic glee;

Enkindled, flowing messenger, the coursing steeds—

flow forth and press to drive forth, licking tongues killing

ants w/ fierce magnified flame; Bright One, fulfilling

like the horde of storm gods, Bright Ones, press driving needs:

\\

I cannot offer you the summer; it’s not me

who can offer you a Summer like this One—

this is a snapshot distillation of it, a

Facsimile thereof, with some sacrificial

herbs and oils boiled in laudation thick with verbiage:

an Icon and a Reliquary for EARTH TIME usage.

More of my sonnets.

    I see you haven't come along in awhile. I could not bear for your legend to fade, so I added this wonderful sonnet to my CREATION MYTH! Hope you are well, friend! https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/creation-myth-m8dm0x8d%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cstyle data-emotion-css="w4qknv-Replies">.css-w4qknv-Replies{display:grid;gap:1.5rem;}

  • Very good

  • Take one part oxytocin, one part dopamine, one part adrenaline, one part serotonin, and one part random nonsense none of us comprehend. Is it love or hate? Well now... that will depend... ...one how you construct your fate!

    Wow, the first line of this was breathtaking and the rest was addictively enjoyable too.
