A Little Bit of Soap
A Poem on Dealing with Transience and Change
At the risk of being Keatsian this morning, I'd like to say that all things are transient. Both joy and sorrow last but for a time. And the lesson we can draw from this is....
Everything lasts but for a time, and time itself moves in a cycle. The transience and change can be navigated with a bit of management.
That requires a bit of understanding, communication, and a clear vision.
So when we feel down for any reason, remember that a little bit of soap does wash away your tears.
Tears line the sides of the cheeks
Making one worse for wear
Weary water that makes one weak
Water that does not stay
For one moment, stains the face
Soap bubbles wash away
Droplets for the day remain
Soap vanquishes at its end
Will not leave behind a stain
See-through tears that one should know
To grasp and chart their form
To properly map their flow
Tells of one's tears to friends
To stop their watery track
And bring them to an end
Tears, like all else, do not tarry
When eyes are full and clear
For the way forward, and what to carry
And trivialities to bury.
