A Little Bit Like Me

You're More Than...

"a kindness akin to clemency"

Who's at fault /

for why she's gone?

We both trespassed /

and were trespassed upon.

Oh, but, what a mercy /

What a consummate lenity /

To learn you're more /

than a little bit like me:

A vacant forest's fallen tree /

A nomad kept in captivity.

Who's at fault /

for why she's gone?

We both trespassed /

and were trespassed upon.

Oh, but, what a coda /

What a comeback it would be /

a kindness akin to clemency /

To learn that you're more /

than a little bit like me:

more than an aspirant /

who'll never make the marquee;

more than a castaway /

long ago, lost at sea.
