Your Word is a shining lantern unto my wandering feet,

It guides me through the darkness where the gnashing monsters meet.

My path is clear for just one step, for the next is all I need,

I hold it close and precious, its light my living creed.

The monsters gather ‘round it, in the shadows and the mud,

And whisper, “you’re unworthy, you of traitor’s muddled blood.”

I hold faster to my beacon, and I remember what you say,

“I will bring you through this darkness, into bright and joyful day.”

A lamp unto my feet, oh King, a light unto my path.

Your light will lead me from a hell of dark, unending wrath.

I follow the light of Your promise, and my heart no longer roams

I follow in your footsteps, and Your lantern guides me home.
