A life Lesson

Words of wisdom

By AshleyPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

If we could move the hands of time,

And set them where we choose,

Then surely we would set the clock,

So that we could never lose.

We’d live our perfect Groundhog Day,

Without worry or concern,

But there I pause and have to ask,

What would we truly learn?

For it’s in our forge of suffering,

Where we are all made strong,

When we face our inner demons,

And make our choices; right and wrong.

For even when the choice is bad,

It’s more fun than wishful thought,

It teaches us more about ourselves,

Of battles we should not have fought.

So any choice you make in life,

Will give you chance to grow,

But heed the voice of caution,

You will reap that which you sow.

So look upon your memories,

As a host of lessons learnt,

Whether succeeding at a venture,

Or of getting your fingers burnt.

It is YOUR life you’re leading,

YOU are your only judge,

There is NO dress rehearsal,

So give YOUR life a nudge.

CHOOSE the path YOU wish to walk,

And face YOUR problems down,

And then reflect on what YOU’VE learnt,

And THANK this wise, old clown.

For I have been where you are now,

And let others do my choosing,

I let them put me on a road,

Which ended with me losing.

I blamed the gods; I cursed my fate,

I went to take my life,

And then I saw the true culprit,

Reflected upon the knife.

I’m sadder now, through lessons learnt,

Taken the blame for all I’ve wrought,

The demons of my past mistakes,

Have all been faced and fought.

So make your choice to live your life,

Don’t wish it all on a plate,

I send this little prayer to you,

That I hope is not too late.

I pray your life exceeds your dreams,

Full of friendship, love and fun,

I pray that you can simply say,

“It was MY life!” when it’s done.
