A Letter to My Mother on Mother's Day
Reflecting on Love, Loss, and Gratitude
Dear Mom,
It’s been many years since I have celebrated Mother’s Day with you, and yet I still feel your presence around me. Today, as I sit down to write this letter to you, my heart is heavy with the weight of your absence, but it is also filled with the memories of the love and warmth you brought into my life.
I remember how you used to wake me up on Mother’s Day with a smile on your face and a warm hug, telling me how much you loved me. You always made sure that we had a special day, filled with laughter and joy, no matter what our circumstances were. You were always my anchor, my rock, and my confidante.
Mom, I want you to know that I miss you every day. There are so many things that I wish I could share with you, so many moments that I wish you were here to witness. I wish you could see how I have grown, how I have become the person you always knew I could be.
But even though you are no longer here, I still feel your love around me. I feel it in the sun shining down on my face, in the wind blowing through my hair, in the laughter of my children. Your love is an ever-present force in my life, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
On this Mother’s Day, I want to thank you for all that you have done for me. Thank you for your endless love, your unwavering support, and your constant guidance. Thank you for being the best mom a child could ask for.
I want you to know that I am doing okay. Life has had its ups and downs, but I have learned to navigate through them with the strength and resilience that you instilled in me. I am married now, and I have two beautiful children who I know would have adored their grandma. They ask about you sometimes, and I tell them stories about the amazing woman that you were. I know that they will grow up knowing how much you loved them, even though you never got the chance to meet them.
Mom, I hope that wherever you are, you are at peace. I hope that you are surrounded by love and happiness, and that you know how much you are missed and loved down here on earth. I hope that you are proud of the person I have become, and that you can see the impact that your love has had on my life.
I love you more than words can express, Mom. You will always be in my heart and in my thoughts. Happy Mother’s Day.
Sincerely,
Your loving child.
