A lake of fire
An acrostic: ECLIPSE

Ever sinking deeper deeper
Certain of the end pray sooner
Life for me no longer meaning
Inner terrors demons pricking
Pyre of flames my flesh receding
Surely there's no cleaner end
Eclipse my life my soul commend

This is spectacular...so vivid
well deserved top story, I like the spin on this prompt
Oh well done, sir. Congrats on this getting Top Story and loads more eyes on its majesty!
With this acrostic I thought about the meaning of "eclipse" beyond the obvious celestial spectator event (sad I won't witness it). Some years I was told by a man in crisis that he had stood before a lake of fire. “I wasn’t dreaming," he told me. "I didn’t imagine it. I was there.” This is his story as I have imagined it from my own perspective and, being more of a story-writer than a poet, I wanted to use the acrostic format to tell a story.
Oooo, this was so intense! Loved your Acrostic! Hope you're doing well, Ray.
This was as deep as the Mariana Trench. Well done, my friend!
How many times have I stood in a hospital room as one by one the children & loved ones take the hand of their mother or father or other & say, "It's okay, you can let go now."
This is one way to wonder about life and death.
Well-wrought! As Dante surmised, we must go through the Inferno to get to Paradise. A worthwhile journey!
Very well written.
And there we have it! Excellent acrostic.
Oh wow! 😳 Hail to the King! A sure fire winner! This was by far the best I have read.
