A KINGDOM DIVIDED.

Love and unity is our major defend.

By Marvelous MichaelPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Spiritual warfare we’ve long fought,

Since ancient times, from traditions birthed deep in the soil,

When our ancestors bowed to gods of clay and fire.

Then Christianity came, like a flood of light,

And many turned to the higher power,

Seeking salvation in the faith that promised strength.

___

But some sought to be modern,

Chasing trends, empty rituals, without depth or roots.

All to cling sheepishly to the white man’s hoot.

____

While others held fast to the ultimate source-

Faith in the power that moves mountains,

Wise enough to respect the messenger,

But with eyes set firmly on the One who sent them.

___

Yet, the old gods, the small gods, they lingered,

Not everyone converted; the ancient ways survived.

Once our proud heritage, these customs,

Now whispered secrets in the dark.

___

Resistant, they weave through time,

Traditions no longer in the open

Now hide behind closed doors.

The small gods, though unseen,

Command loyalty from hearts still bound.

Our past became shadowed, yet present,

A heritage that refuses to be erased.

____

Our land is plagued by unseen forces,

Religious clashes tear us apart,

Deep divisions in a country we claim to love.

___

Everyone looks out for themselves,

The dream of restoration feels like a lone man’s quest….

Each to himself.

___

Restoring the nation’s greatness—

Once a shared burden—

Becomes the lonely pursuit of one.

Even among the same race, discrimination spreads,

Leaders, meant to guide us, show us only corrupt steps.

___

Frustration simmers, envy burns like a flame,

The sword of death rests in the hands of the desperate.

In an economy built for the few,

The many succumb to pressure to seek darker paths.

___

Once powerful in their allegiance to devilish gods,

They curse at the slightest provocation,

Incantations rise like smoke in the air,

Bloodied sacrifices stain our streets.

___

Cursing your brother in the same land—

Do you not see? The curse returns to you.

We walk beneath clouds of boomerang curses,

Dragging us back, while other nations rise,

Despite our potential, we lag behind,

Evil spreads, chains we cannot see.

___

The innocent walk under burdens not their own,

Evil spreads while we overlook or aid it all,

Wondering why our prayers go unanswered.

Yet our division fractures the very earth beneath us.

___

Perhaps the quiet reply we fail to hear—

Is that a kingdom divided cannot stand.

___

And so, the battles rages on—

Between old and new, between brother and brother.

Our unity is the prayer that rises on every tongue,

Yet it slips away, a distant dream.

Can we find our way back to one another,

Before we destroy ourselves from within?

___

Again i say, Hear me clearly, one more time!

We pray, but fail to hear the silent reply:

A kingdom divided cannot stand.

___

Oh, Nigeria, you are a house divided,

But love and unity is our only defend.

Perhaps that should have been our ending pledge….

For there is no peace without love,

And no unity without love.

And what better guide to attest than the one 1 Corinthians 13:4-8?

Let us make this our true pledge for the change we seek to begin.

____

For love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,

It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails!
