A Journey Beyond the World

A Mystical Ghazal by Shah Nimatullah Wali

By Rahatweb WebsitePublished 11 months ago 1 min read

Shah Nimatullah Wali, a 14th-century Persian poet and Sufi master, is known for his deeply spiritual and mystical poetry. His verses often reflect the idea of the soul's journey beyond the material world, seeking divine truth and ultimate union. In this ghazal, he portrays life as a fleeting passage, where the soul moves like a traveler, unbothered by worldly struggles. With imagery of the sea, open plains, and the path of truth, the poem invites the reader to rise above earthly concerns and embrace the spiritual journey toward the divine.

🌿 We are of the sea, and to the sea we shall return.

We are of the heights, and to the heavens we shall rise.

💫 We have left this foreign land behind,

And toward the home of the Beloved, we journey with open eyes.

✨ Why fear the thorns upon this path of strife?

For we are riders, galloping through the endless skies.

🌙 The path of truth is narrow, pure, and bright,

Yet with unwavering will, to its depths we shall rise.
