A Hedonist’s Life

Life is short, so why not jest it up?

Singing and dancing,

In the local pub.

With not one penny,

Laughing and jesting,

All day long.

When night’s come,

And payment’s asked,

A run filled with laughter of accomplishment’s I take.

And after a day’s hard work.

I return to my cold bed.

“Oh, what a fine day”, I say.

The happiness of today’s work

And the eagerness to awake tomorrow to get back to work

Lull me into a dreamless slumber.

Born in riches,

No care but to spend,

Buying, travelling,

Everyday a new conquest.

Hopping from shop to shop,

My daily activity,

With fake admirers at every bend,

But who cares? Certainly not I.

As long as I have yes-men all around,

Life’s a glee.

Come night, I return to my warm bed,

“Oh, what a fine day”, I say.

Thoughts of today’s accomplishments and those for tomorrow,

Lull me into a dreamless slumber.

My life’s sweet,

My life’s a glee,

My life’s relaxing,

My life’s exotic,

My life’s a carnival,

My life’s charade,

My life’s a party,

My life’s a chase,

My life’s a theatre,

My life’s a race.

My life’s THE life!

Never a bore,

Never a drag.

My life’s a hedonist’s life.
