A Heat Wave

Uncomfortable stuffy days and nights

By Marie381Uk Published about a year ago 1 min read
Please let tomorrow be windy and cold

In the blistering night, the air hangs thick,

Tossing and turning, the clock's loud tick.

Sweat beads trickle, the sheets feel like fire,

Longing for sleep, but it slips ever higher.

The fan’s gentle whirl, no cool air here still

so over heated I can’t breath, now feeling ill

As I toss and I turn in the suffocating night.

The days I can manage but the nights are a fight

please god send a breeze, make this heatwave go

Send us the winter, let us bath in cold snow

Oh, for a whisper of cool dawn’s embrace,

But the heat wraps around, an unyielding lace.

Cushioned by unbearable heat, craving the chill,

I yearn for sweet slumber to feel time stand still.

With eyes wide and weary, I dream of the day,

When sleep will return, and the heat fades away.

Let night grant me coolness, a quiet retreat,

From this sweltering never ending summer heat
