A Heart in Longing
A Soulful Ghazal by Amir Khusrow Dehlavi

Amir Khusrow Dehlavi, a 13th-century Persian poet and Sufi musician, is celebrated for his mesmerizing poetry, rich with themes of love, devotion, and longing. His verses bridge the gap between earthly love and spiritual yearning, often portraying the pain of separation from the beloved. In this ghazal, the poet speaks of a heart shattered by love, eyes filled with tears, and the restless yearning to reunite with the beloved. The poem beautifully encapsulates the agony of waiting and the deep hope that one day, love will heal all wounds.
🌿 I hold a heart that’s broken, filled with pain,
Wherever I go, thoughts of you remain.
💫 From longing, my eyes bleed in sorrow’s tide,
Oh, may fate one day bring you to my side.
✨ A single breeze may shatter my fragile soul,
For in love’s grasp, I have lost control.
🌙 If ever I see my beloved’s face again,
With joy, I’ll surrender my life—nothing will remain.
