A Glimpse of the Last Light

My feet sink in

The cold moisture calms me in

My ocean blue dress drifting gently behind me

Collecting sand as it drags by

Waves crash silently and gracefully

A tear drips down from my eyes

Down to my cheeks

Down to my chin

And down to my neck

Where it finds a resting place

Where it is ready to leave

To pass on what it had left behind

Behind with no more regrets

Slowly, I walk

Putting one foot in front of the next

Until I reach the white little bubbles

Only being given a few seconds of life

To breathe and look at the world

To see the shape and wonderful secrets of life

My feet swiftly touch the water

Cool and fresh

Wrapping and hugging my feet

Giving me comfort like no one has ever before

Slowly, I step forward

One at a time

Wetness up to my ankles, knees and legs

My hair, begging for life

Begging for just one last breath

Jumps slowly and steadily as the wind picks it up

Slowly, I step forward

Wetness up to my stomach, shoulders and neck

I look up to the sky one last time

Looking up at the light blue of the sky

The fluffiness of the clouds as they pass by

The birds who fly freely with no limits

The scent of the salty but sweet ocean

The sounds of birds’ call

And soon

The saltiness of ocean water

As I slowly step forward one last time

Only leaving a couple of ripples here and there on the surface

Like a pebble had just dropped inside

However, under the blinding light of sunset

Under the reflection as it touches the ocean

I was gone

Leaving nothing behind

Nothing but my body resting peacefully and quietly on the ocean floor

Then soon, nothing by my bones resting peacefully and quietly on the ocean floor

And then, nothing but my bones resting peacefully and quietly under the ocean floor.
