A Garden for the Birds

My organic garden is sanctuary for birds

Sparrows forage in the soil

and splash in the birdbath.

Hummingbirds sip from the larkspurs.

Finches build a nest on our roof

and feed on arugula siliques.

Mourning doves collect twigs for theirs.

Bushtits come to eat insects

from under the guava leaf.

I have seen warblers too.

Towhee sits on the garden wall.

Wrens sing their loud songs

Crows come to rest too.

@Seema

Birds trust my organic garden.

They can eat, sip, bath

collect nesting materials

rest and swing from nasturtium vines

or sing to their heart's contents

It's a bird haven.

This garden is as much theirs

as much mine

That is my reward.

They pay me back

with their cheerful presence.
