The Tree of Life
is a Sitka spruce
hanging onto
an unstable cliff
near a beach
of Olympic peninsula
in the Pacific Northwest.
Each year, many visit
to see this marvel.
In a world of so many
perfect trees,
what makes this one special?
Resilience!
How it defies gravity—
clinging to life,
with exposed roots,
in a region
known for landslides.
Countless logs litter
the beaches nearby,
but this one
survives and surprises.
While you drive there
and take selfies with it,
remember why
it’s such an inspiration!
Not for its looks,
but for its tenacity.
Now you know—
what quality
we truly need
to leave a legacy!
Not our exterior appearance
but courage against calamity!
