A Friend, Turned Foe VIII

No... -please, not you too...

No...

not you too‐

my own mind,

you are all of me that's left...

you can't turn on me too‐

If you do then, Despair's sweetest dream,

and my worst nightmare,

will both come true‐

and Desire's torture,

will never see an end.

What a twisted fortune it would be,

for you to be written in with the rest of my enemies‐

surely that would bring an end to me completely

leaving only an empty body,

but without control,

a soul, that can only cry.

My own mind,

if you leave

the unrest that resides within, will only continue to rise...

there will be no containing the fire that is this, burning paradise

and if you already have...

then who's writing this?

Who's voice is this?...

reading aloud everything I put to paper,

pouring out the ink of my pen,

mimicking my handwriting,

and shouting out all of these thoughts...

Who's voice is this?...

If you, my own mind...

have turned on me too, then‐

are these notions yours or mine?

Who's directing my eyes?

Was it you?...

guiding them to sin

all this time?...

You and Desire both,

along with my heart and all else that resides within me

cannot be my enemies...

How can all that makes up me, be against me?

Who then, does that make me?

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
