A Friend Indeed

I have a friend who has been with me since the day I was born

He has stuck with me through good times and times I've had to mourn

Though I don't always notice him, I know he's always there.

Creeping silently under my feet, of this fact I'm fully aware.

He has been with me on boring nights, we made animals on the wall

Even on hot summer days, when I'm playing basketball.

It's times like this that make me stop and want to bestow,

A word of appreciation and thanks to a true friend, my shadow
