A Fluvial Life

by Billy W. Mitchell

By Billy W. MitchellPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

We are

Floating

In the ephemeral expanse

Vast

Infinite

A cottony atmosphere

Leaden and electrical

Thunder like a heartbeat

Pounds

Reverberates

I am

Falling

Being

Born

My cry splashes the senses

As my body is carried

To the bedrock of my crib

Safe

Swaddled

Secure

My consciousness

Awakens

My senses spring out

Stimulus trickling to me

And my laughter ripples out

My cry torrents away

Flowing life

Swirling eddies of interest

Channeling my spirit

Onward

I join with others

Playing

Frolicking

Running around stones

Jumping into the air

Tumbling down hills

My life grows wider

As does my awareness

Still joining

Others

My friends and I

Growing

Learning

Join still others

Streams of others

Settling down

Flowing slower

Calm and smooth

But sometimes

Angry and tumultuous

We are

A community of billions

Flowing wide

Slow

Purposeful

Knowing the force of life

If not the meaning

Striving onward

Constantly seeking

Unity

We are Divinity

We are an ocean of life

Each a drop of the whole

Interconnected

Interdependent

Cohesive

Powerful

Loved

Love

All

I am

Lighter than a feather

Drifting upward

Toward the Light

The Sun

Fading from sight

Rejoining in the ephemeral

Expanse

For now

We await

Rebirth
