A flicker of light

A final farewell

You meet me at my lowest

In fact it’s safe to say

That year I had fell into the abyss

In that darkness you seemed to have been my light at the end of my tunnel

Alas you were more alike to a candle

Beautiful and bright

Shining and mesmerizing through the night

A small warmth and floating comfort

Candles they shine light

Bright in darkness

Highlight sweet memories

But like a candle you seemed to flicker in my abysmal darkness

Like a candle in contrast to the weather

Life’s obstacles

You came and went

Flickering in and out of existence

You chose when to ignite or blow out the flame

In that darkness I became

What I feared most

My own shame

Disheartened I became

To realize you were a flame

But just like flames and candles

One must remember

That one day

You too can get burned by that very same flame

Candles as beautiful as they may be

Aren’t everlasting.
