I’m not just a pet, I’m a friend so true,
Through every storm, I stand by you.
When you’re lost in sorrow, I’ll bring you light,
A wagging tail through the darkest night.
I ask for nothing, just your hand,
A gentle word that I understand.
Your secrets are safe, fears unknown,
Beside you, you are never alone.
If your heart breaks, I’ll feel it too,
But I’ll mend it with the love I give you.
Every step, I’m by your side,
A loyal soul, a steady guide.
So when you need a friend, don’t look too far,
I’m here — your shadow, your brightest star.
Always loving to you and always close
You know I love you, forever we’re close

Ok, I almost never read poetry, but this one is really good. I love it. You might want to read my story - dog love - it’s not poetry, but it is kind of like your theme.
