A Dash, Splash and Cash Super Clash

The epic love story of Johnny and me

By Kelly A CurranPublished 4 years ago 8 min read

This is the story of Johnny and me

Told as a saga in parts one, two, and three

Part one begins with little expectation

An innocent day exploded beyond explanation

Today is a beautiful day just for me

I head to the beach to watch the sea

The waves, birds and people all easily mix

This is my go to option for a serenity fix

Relaxing and enjoying life without a plan

My attention is caught by a handsome man

He isn’t doing much but has a confident flair

When he looks my way I gasp for air

We spend some time in a flirty dance

As I watch him move I go into a trance

The next thing I know he’s coming my way

I have a feeling this will be a memorable day

His name is Johnny and he’s new in town

He wants my time and of course I’m down

Our conversation is deep, filled with emotion

His elegant words are like a love potion

He shares stories that draw me in deep

Our connection will be a treasure I keep

He has a bike and wants to go for a ride

I’m under his spell so I’m staying by his side

We meld together flying through the streets

The rush is interrupted when we see the police

I feel Johnny tense as he maneuvers around cars

Now I’m worried that I’ll end up behind bars

As the speed increases the world starts to blur

The danger awakens a feeling I didn’t know I prefer

Over my shoulder I see it’s not the cops in pursuit

There’s a guy all in black that’s a sinister brute

I’m regretting decisions made on a whim

There’s no turning back so I’m stuck with him

Johnny is banking around turns at a furious pace

We’re holding the lead in this high pressure race

Up ahead there’s a bridge starting to rise high

The bike revs loudly since we’re going to fly

I tighten my grip and squeeze my eyes tight

The bike is carving the air like a bird in flight

As we bounce on pavement I let out my breath

It’s a miracle that we’ve skirted our death

Johnny can’t hold on so we’re sliding down the street

We come to a stop and I’m pulled to my feet

We’re holding hands and running away fast

Behind us we hear the sound of a blast

My head is spinning but I’m trusting this stranger

I feel safe with him despite the danger

Moving through the crowd we come to a cafe

There’s a table in the back so we sit hidden away

The waitress is shocked at our disheveled state

We tell her we are fine and here to celebrate

As she walks away Johnny gives a head shake

He’s sorry he got me into this with so much at stake

He didn’t mean for me to be involved in his mess

He keeps to himself, which is usually for the best

It was the attraction he felt when we met at the beach

For the first time he believed love was in reach

Johnny’s about to tell me everything he knows

He’s interrupted with much more to disclose

The waitress drops off our drinks and scurries out

I swirl my glass of Merlot wondering what he’s really about

He easily sits with a goofy smile and tousled hair

I realize I should be worried but I find I don’t care

He grabs my hand gently and whispers in my ear

He can’t tell me everything but I should have no fear

I’m completely taken with his sincerity and charm

I fully believe that he will protect me from harm

As I sit back in my chair I realize this was an insane first date

I know I’ll be onboard for whatever adventures await

This man is a complete mystery I want to solve

But today I’m content to anticipate what might evolve

After an exciting start we come to next big vignette

A precious book pushes a theme we cannot forget

Riding in an Uber and looking in a nook

Much to my surprise I see a little black book

The driver tells me to take it because it must be trash

But what starts with lots of gibberish ends with clues of cash

I meet my buddy Johnny who’s waiting for the show

He tells me what I’m reading is not for me to know

Before I can get an answer he grabs my arm to run

Coming down the block is a stranger with a gun!

Turning down a dark alley, we are hidden from view

We catch our breath and start to plan what we need to do

Every line and page of the book has clues clearly laid

If we follow each one closely, it’s a map to getting paid

Reading all the scribbles the mystery is revealed with clocks

I exclaim to Johnny: The treasure must be at the docks!

Johnny says we can’t stop now since we’re in way too deep

So following this to the end is the path that we shall keep

Before deciding which way to go, big dogs begin to bark

So we climb over the fence and take a shortcut through the park

Rain starts to fall and we are feeling danger everywhere

I know it’s quite silly but I’m worried about my hair

Johnny wakes me up when he pulls me to the ground

He points to a large barge that shows me what he found

I reach for our little black book, a companion that I love

Each time I turn it over, it fits me like a glove

Johnny wants to check things out despite both our fear

He’ll go look up close and we decide I’ll stay here

As I watch Johnny approach the ramp I see a person at his back

But before I can make any move, my whole world goes black

I awake in an unfamiliar place that smells of cheese and mold

Johnny is behind me and his fingers are limp and cold

As I try to stand up I struggle with what I see

The door busts open and it’s the gunman running at me

I’m tied to the chair so clearly I’ll be dead

But the man sets me free and tells me he’s a Fed

Guns are firing and we need to get out before it’s too late

But Johnny is not getting up and it looks like death’s our fate

There’s nothing left for me to do but to admit what I’ve concealed

I lean down to sweetly kiss his lips so now my love’s revealed

Everything stops for me as Johnny eyes flutter open

The smile that comes across his face is filled with sweet emotion

Before we can embrace the Fed yells that we have to go

The whole place is filled with TNT and it’s about to blow!

We hurry through the door without a second to spare

As soon as we reach the deck, we are flying through the air

Landing in the cold water my breath gets taken away

But hovering over my head the Fed saves the day!

Safely on the dock I’m shocked and feeling uneasy

Out of the smoke Johnny comes and hugs me quite sweetly

The Fed sits us down and says we’ve cracked the case

Their only lead stopped calling and left without a trace

Our clever interpretations surely saved the day

For helping them find the treasure our reward is $20K!

The cash is nice and we are happy but our love is the true win

And to think it wouldn’t have happened without finding a precious Moleskin

The final act ends with a callback to the start

It continues the adventures and tugs at the heart

Johnny and I use our winnings to get away

We’ve been hiding out since that crazy day

We helped the Feds crack a smuggling case

And we are now a target since they know our face

I remember what I saw in the little book I found

And I’ve used my own Moleskin to write it all down

The jottings look to be from someone gone mad

But the clues say there is more treasure to be had

The Feds said to go home and just let it be

Our curiosity drives us to check near the sea

We jump in a taxi as soon as we land

We know we can find more than just the twenty grand

We both feel the electricity as our hands touch

But is it from our love or is it the danger rush?

As we exit the cab the driver gives us an ominous warning

There is no good to be found here unless it’s morning

We use the codes found in our little black book

They lured us to a place that is obvious to look

We’ve committed to a plan that seems quite crazy

I’m now regretting my decision to not stay lazy

The heat is rising up despite the lack of sun

As we get close to the water we hear the sound of a gun

Diving for cover our mistake becomes clear

The bad guys knew that we would go to the pier

Johnny is searching for the best way out of this mess

The only good option is to run and hope for the best

The sand slows us down and there is no chance

Once again we are caught in a dangerous dance

We are taken to a place among abandoned rides

There is no laughter here just the sound of the tides

Odd lights are casting long shadows heightening my discomfort

Faint voices start to rise and a horn blows like a trumpet

I start to scream as Johnny is dragged out the door

All hope becomes lost when I’m knocked to the floor

Johnny and I could have left everything alone

It would’ve been better to have stayed home

We knew there were great risks and things could go wrong

But the lure of more adventure was our siren song

Now I’m sure that there will be no way to break free

I’m resigned to the pain that will come to Johnny and me

Suddenly I’m grabbed and told we’re going for a walk

It’s going to be the end for me since no one will talk

I’m completely drained and know I have one last shot

I tell my captor I know precisely what they got

I’ll give them what they want since it’s easy to show

I’ve solved the riddles and only need to be let go

I’m spun around and know I need to brace

But instead of a violent blow I see a familiar face

Our Fed once again has come to the rescue

He knew we would continue to chase every clue

The mystery we’ve followed involves more than cash

If we had stopped searching the world wouldn’t last

I’m surprised and should be happy but I can’t care

It’s Johnny I want to see and I need to know where

The Fed is dripping with sweat and looks really nervous

He’s stalling for time thanking me for my service

At the water’s edge I spot what I can’t accept

It looks like Johnny’s body with no life left

How could this be the end of our story?

We were supposed to win the day and bask in glory

As I contemplate where it all went wrong

My heart skips a beat as I hear singing of my favorite song

Johnny’s alive and the body is the bad guy

We rush together and both start to cry

A year later we are back with the Fed

He’s reading our vows as we are wed

Now we are certain that we’ve achieved the win

We are forever indebted to our favorite Moleskin!
