a creature sworn to war
What defines a line? ✨My ink runs on, as does my love for you✨

I was just
a spec of dust once in
the universe.
Before my spirit knew
its petalburst on Earth,
I was just
a tuft of ember drifting like
a feather through
the darkness (as)
we all were—and
little did I know
that you and I
were already together in
the sky like song
of birds.
I do not remember my
soul contract—in that kingdom we
were whispered, cosmic purrs—
but I believe
I must have yearned the right
to love you:
to cradle you with lullabies
at birth.
Perhaps I overlooked the fine-print, (missed)
the sneaky,
hidden terms,
but if the the stars had told me I’d
be chiseling you from daydreams in
the sunlight,
I’d still choose to be ✨your warrior✨ and
fight to bring you life on Earth.
So hear my battle cry:
The daybreak’s an
unyielding plight of
armed and ready soldiers racing
toward me—
rays of sun are swords that stab my
will,
and might,
and nerves (right to)
my core,
but I still face the blood
and ache
and sobbing...(for)
✨for you✨there is no peace{or worth}
in stopping—
I am now a creature sworn
to war.
And I scream these words out loud—
If the stars had warned
(me I’d)
be tracing you in clouds,
I’d still chase sunlight—I'd
still choose to be alive, for
loving you so much (that I)
must daydream you into
existence and fight for you to
live is✨a gift✨and I
will not give up—(I am)
a creature sworn to war.

Definetly a inner struggle happening. A battle of wills and hidden strength that is bound to burst forth.
I felt the weary strength in this, a spirit ground down but refusing to succumb. And I feel the pain and overwhelming longing too. So sorry that this is your fight, but right alongside you when you need someone. Gorgeous wording for this tender poem of love and resilience :)
Well-wrought, Gina! Lots of evocative language. Paradox: for love we are willing to make war, but for war we do not feel love.
Magnificent work, Gina! Some epic proportions to the emotion in this! And so many stunning lines and phrases!
As one who is both battle worn & scarred, I can only say to you, "Hear! Hear! Gina C.!"
So unique, and such high vibrational words of beauty. Love it! 💝🌟
Gorgeous, epic, and oh my heart. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
This is love as an act of creation, mythic in conception and a metaphorical treasure trove! Wonderful poetry, Gina!
