A Crazy Collaboration

The Sandman, The Moon and Walter

My eyes narrowed and my vision was altered

I heard sounds coming out of thin air

My mirror tells me, that his name is Walter

He has spider webs stuck in his hair

He says that he came here from Clevland

He brought gifts from the zoo down the street

They are anxious - to see you in dreamland

Awaiting you at their groups, sleep and greet

All it takes for you to be welcomed

Is a hearty desire to snooze

Feel free to chew up your sleeping aids

And swallow them quickly with booze

The less alert you are, the better

It will ease the uneasiness you may feel

Go ahead and put on a sweater

When humans get chilled, they're likely to squeal

Now, don't get me wrong, we don't mind the noise

In fact, you will hear some strange sounds, for sure

But we've found that dreams are harder to alter

When of your senses, you are acutely aware.

Now, let us run through the checklist together

To be sure we have all that we'll need

The sandman has made you feel sleepy

And the moons phases - have us all up to speed

Now my job is the easiest to tackle

All we need is for you to step through -

Although our reflections are similar

They will notice it's me and not you.

Don't be scared of the beast in the corner

He is here in case something goes wrong

But I can't tell you the last time that's happened

He hasn't eaten a soul in so long

Now, that's Carol sitting there, at the table

She is in charge of keeping everyone straight

So, we send you back to the right bedroom

Once or twice, we have made that mistake

George there - is the commander in sheep

He monitors your REM'S

If they rise or fall, he's sure to fix it

Thats why the collar we put on you, has gems

Each one contains a concoction to lead you

Into the dreams we've planned for you tonight

So don't try to fight it or argue

Just relax, everything is alright

Then he asked me if I had any questions

I said, hell yes, what did you expect

That I would step through the mirror in my bedroom

Because you said so, and never object?

He laughed and said, it never stopped you before

I guess - you need a few moments to breathe

Close your eyes, count to three, and then look at the floor

Tell me now, what do you see?

When I opened my eyes, I was back in my bed

I looked quickly at the mirror to be safe

What I saw - was my hair all disheveled

And a sleepy grin there on my face
