Life does not always serve its finest plate, but always what we can eat. Michelle Liew

**********************************************************************

A simple truth, in brittle lines we take

A platter cracked yet holds cuisine so fine,

Its edges shattered, its polish dulled by years,

Still warms the hands that seek the taste of time,

Its every break, adorned with battle sears

**********************************************************************

A simple truth, in too-thin, brittle lines

To search for grace in the spoilt and worn,

For life does not always serve a platter fine

But with one that hones thanks with each fall borne.

**********************************************************************Note

This is written as a Huitain poem, a French poetic form which uses the ababbcbc rhyme scheme in an 8-line stanza. Daphsam uses and explains the form beautifully in her poem, A Mother Lion Love.

  • Just because I can eat it, doesn't mean I want to, lol. Loved your poem!
