A Color Blind World
A poem about the problems racism causes.

"My whiteness affords me the privilege to pick and choose when to do this work, their blackness doesn’t."John Ross
When did our world get this way? How long has it been allowed to be like this? Can we stop it? How?
We need a color-blind world,
With color-blind boys and color-blind girls
With their color-blind hearts and color-blind souls
Color-blind minds in color-blind roles
With a color-blind leader, uniting all
With color-blind words that unite, not ignite
We need to make color-blind laws, color-blind decisions
For color-blind people on color-blind missions
We must have color-blind schools
With color-blind teachers teaching color-blind youths
Color-blind churches praising a color-blind God
A Color-blind preacher, this is not odd
Preaching a color-blind gospel from his color-blind bible
To color-blind people, with or without a title
We need color-blind doctors
Because diseases don’t care
What is the color of your eyes, skin, or hair
We must have color-blind courts
With color blind judges, issuing color blind verdicts
From color blind juries
We need color-blind lawyers
To defend our color-blind sons and daughters
Color-blind swimmers need color-blind beaches
Because sharks don’t care if you preach or snitches
Children need color-blind playgrounds and color-blind parks
But not too young to understand what color-blind asks
Open color-blind restaurants and color-blind clubs
Accommodating color-blind people enjoying their grubs
We need color-blind stores,
Where color blind people are opening doors
For color-blind shoppers, shopping from store to store
Spending their hard-earned color-blind dollars galore
We must have color-blind workplaces
Where our skin and our faces
Isn’t a part of our resume
Because Tetrachromacy people will assume
That race is a requirement
For this job of affluence
Not paying attention
To my education
Whether Harvard or Princeton
Because being black takes away my option
We need a color-blind world to give and get equal rights and attention .
Thank you for reading this piece. I hoped you enjoyed it.
