A Cold Fact

RIP Sixto Rodriguez

By BrenPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

i had to put a record on

if only to drown out

the cloying omnipresent sound

of the local traffic

i'm thirty five kilometres from the city

if you happened to wander east

you'd be in with rest of the traffic

the noise of which i'm trying to drown

my neighbours

can't hear don't care

they're a nice couple with youngins

he's an ex concentration camp guard

the sun is fighting clouds

it wants to bring the breeze

it's not cold it's not hot;

so i chose Rodriguez - Cold Fact

some wicked tunes that are standing the tests of time

not one iffy song on the whole record

loved in Australia and South Africa

funny though

they were the only places

it did any good

there was a movie a few years

"Searching for Sugar Man"

i do hope he got something

Post Scriptum

I wrote this a couple of months back but never got around to an end that I was happy with. Well the universe stepped in as it does and it is now with a heavy heart I now hope to publish this having just learnt of his passing. The image is from an old fake record cover comp I entered years ago, no disrespect intended. RIP Sixto - you will be missed!

    R. I. P., Mr. R... Thanks for this one.

  • RIP Sixto Rodriguez 🥺 Beautiful poem!

  • Lovely ! I love this album…. It’s one of a few vinyls I have ! Ever since I watched Searching for Sugarman Rodriguez became a firm favourite. It was literally like discovering Bob Dylan for the first time all over again. Thank you for the reminder. Im putting it on as I hit send! 🙏✨
