A Christmas Sale

…not to be repeated.

They trade in last-chance opportunities,

in Christmas deals - not to be repeated.

Their one-time offers, act-now urgencies

fuel the fire in markets over-heated.

.

They’ll commercialise, advertise, promote

and gladly sell their souls and services.

Their counter-bids will no-doubt float your boat,

lock down a price to suit your purposes.

.

They are the wizards of chicanery

with spell-bound offers too good to be true.

Their bags of discounted miscellany

appeal to wonder, lust and revenue.

.

They’ll make believe in a stocking that sells

wise men’s gifts to the tune of jingle bells

.

A first impression has a lasting effect - it makes a notable difference. In a subtle way that’s who I am as a poet. A ‘first impression’ looking for the gentle ‘twist’ that draws attention to a novel observation.

Amazing way of describing this. I've seen a lot of videos on TikTok about people going after such sales - we don't have much of it where I'm from. So fascinating.
