A Buck in Sight

Poetry about hunting

By Tami Brzak RobbPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

A Buck in Sight

You look at him, he looks at you,

wondering if you'll get your gun out and shoot.

As you crouch down to take your aim,

up comes his tail, like a wild fire flame.

He knows what you're after, so he takes his flight,

bounding through trees to get out of sight.

You lose him again, but, you know he's not far,

you're in for a fight and a long way from the car.

The cool night appearing, dusk being drawn,

The buck is now hiding, the fight is on.

Quietly through the timbers you roam,

he is not scared for this is his home.

Once again in his sight, you let out a big sigh,

for you can see the glare in is eyes.

The moon is shining, night is here.

Could this be the last for this big deer?

Whose heart beats faster, we'll never know

as the buck is being drug through the snow.

Another season, another time.

This year the big buck is mine!
