A Billion Lines

First there was a million

Then we thought why not a billion

Next we were lost in stanzas

As we wrote with brazen abandon

Could this be the verse

Or would it be a curse

Allowing for writing with reckless abandon

We might not have a leg to stand on

Next whenever we took on a new endeavour

We were hoping someone would think us very clever

Until we wrote for the never

There was not be a way to have our say

Yet we continued with this ambitious endeavour

Hoping to uncover something clever

The words would nevertheless impress

We were hoping not to digress

We kept laying down some legions

Such that were allowed within our regions

Without rime or reason

There was no more ammunition

This was not due to a lack of attrition

We were hoping someone would listen

This mission was not without submission

In reaching for a zillion

It might one day be possible for a billion

For Fun
